Make way for the $1.6 million open-top Lamborghini Reventón Roadster

Lamborghini Reventón Roadster
The sleekest open-top sports car has finally arrived. Known as the Reventón Roadster, this two-seater, sports car was recently unveiled by Lamborghini. A mean machine, the Reventón Roadster boasts of a 6.5 liter twelve-cylinder that generates 493 kW (670 PS), catapulting the Roadster from 0 to 100 Km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 330 KM/h (205 mph).

In fact, the Reventón Roadster is actually extremely similar to the non-drop-top Reventón coupe. What is more, according to Lamborghini it is one of the most extreme car’s the company has ever produced! The Roadster is clad in a design of maximum functionality and spectacular clarity. Its color too is equally exclusive. The aggressive wedge shape of this car might remind you of fighter jets. Designers have actually created a new shade of matt grey called Reventón Grey especially for this car. A six-speed transmission and all-wheel drive are some of the features of this beauty.

The engine is mounted longitudinally in front of the rear axle, resulting in 58 percent of the weight being carried by the back wheels. The front end can be raised about 1.6 inches to protect against potholes and steep inclines. Headlamps feature bi-xenon units with LEDs forming the daytime running lights and indicators. Behind the two seats are two hidden pop-up bars that deploy upwards in less than a second in the event of an imminent rollover. Rating high in performance, design as well as safety this sports car is definitely in a league of its own.

An amazing car, the Lamborghini Reventón Roadster will however be limited to less than 20 units. The car is priced at $1.6 million with deliveries scheduled to begin in October 2009. The car will be seen at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

Lamborghini Reventon Review

Lamborghini Reventon
Based on the Murcielago concept, Lamborghini created Reventon at Saint’Agatha, Italy wich heads straight from the spotlights of Frankfurt motor show halls. Moreover, the clientele is limited(20 owners by October 2008) and the price varies around $1.365. Its engine is powered with 650hp at 8000rpm, right coveted 100-hp/liter mark and 10hp more than the LP640-which dates back from Lamborghini pre-Miura days, even if claims the same speed and acceleration numbers as the Lp640.

The carbon-fiber masterpiece was inspired by the F-22 Raptor Jet,as the brand and design manager talks,Manfred Fitzgerald talks about of every team’s member involvement and creativity in order to soak up dynamic views of the jet design. The rear lights, which are carbon fiber with LeD inserts,or the carbon fiber struts across the top of the engine bay, with a transparent cover, will definetly keep people talking.

Though the Reventon ticks every box in the Murcielago’s options list ,like carbon ceramic brakes,forged-aluminium wheels with fiber inlays,no panels are shared with the LP640-only the side mirrors have been carried over from it. Fitzgerald claims that the Reventon is designed to go straight from sketches to CAD production, and not only a piece of design.

The quarter-scale model, allowed them to reduce production time tremendously, because it has been all virtual, and the higher cornering speeds than the LP640 are due to the aeronautics inspiration-arrowhead nose and visible carbon-fiber splitter that provided the car with more front

Equipped with a digital dash,it allows the driver to enjoy a digitized version of the traditional round, and while the bodywork will capture the attention of the overwealming majority,it is the instrument cluster(all aluminum) that lends the car more technical credibility9.

The rest of the interior is stylish, equipped with greenish Alcantara seats which follow the design of the sharp arrow idea,or nappa leather around the cabin, similar to that in the Gallardo Superleggera.

It is question whether the Reventon worths its million dollar price due to its comparison to the LP640,though its price is justified by pointing out the months of research and its different body and interior design, with the lefthand drive. The 20 Lamborghini Reventon>have already been sold and are on the sales list among Bugatti Veyron,The Mercedes Benz CLK and Ferrari Fxx.

Lamborghini Reventon Roadster: Details and High-Res Gallery of €1.1 Million Special

Lamborghini Reventon Roadster
Two years after the Reventon coupe was presented at the 2007 Frankfurt show, the Italian automaker is making a comeback at this year's IAA with the unveiling of a roadster model. As with the coupe, less than 20 examples of the jet-fighter inspired supercar will be built for sale, each priced at a whopping 1.1 million euros or 1.6 million USD at today's exchange rates, and mind you, that's not including taxes. Deliveries of the V12-powered Italian special will begin as early as October 2009.

"The Reventón is the most extreme car in the history of the brand," said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini. "The new Roadster adds an extra emotional component to our combined technological expertise – it unites superior performance with the sensual fascination of open-top driving."

Like the coupe, the Reventon Roadster measures 4700 mm (185 in.) in length, has a wheelbase of 2665 mm (105 in.) and is 2058 mm (81 in.) wide and 1132 mm (45 in.) high. Besides the targa roof, the only other styling differences between the two bodystyles concern the addition of two hidden pop-up bars that deploy upwards in just a few hundredths of a second in the event of a rollover, the new engine bonnet that is virtually horizontal and comes with four glass windows providing a full view of the V12 and finally, a new shade of matt grey.

Lamborghini says that the Reventon's base bodyshell, which is made almost exclusively from carbon fiber elements, with sheet steel used only for the outer door skins, was already so stiff that the Roadster model required only minimal reinforcement. This translates to an extra 25kg (55 lbs) bringing the Roadster model's total dry weight to 1690 Kg (3,725 lbs.) Inside, the jet-fighter theme is continued with the "two transreflective and one transmissive" liquid-crystal displays replacing the classic analogue instrumentation while the two bucket seats are separated by a large central tunnel covered in carbon fiber and Alcantara.

Lamborghini Reventon Loses its Top: First Photos of Roadster Model

Lamborghini Reventon
Didn't manage to empty your bank account on one of the 20 Lamborghini Reventon coupes? No worries, as the Italian dream-carmaker is readying another exclusive batch of Reventons, this time in roadster form. The front piece of Lamborghini's stand at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show gets the same jet-fighter looks as the coupe model which was unveiled two years ago sans the rooftop, of course.

There's nothing official on the car as of yet, but we suspect that the topless Reventon will be powered by Lambo's particular feisty 6.5-liter V12 producing around 650HP. Logically, the all-alloy V12 should be paired to a six-speed transmission with paddleshifts and the Murcielago's four-wheel drive mechanicals launching the car from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in the mid-three-second range and on to top speed in excess of 320km/h or 200mph.

The Roadster model should easily top the hardtop Reventon's €1,000,000 price tag, but we gather that won't be a problem for the very few that will be interested in buying the supercar.

Lamborghini Madura Student Design Project

Lamborghini Madura
Slavche Tanevsky, a student at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, has created this futuristic Lamborghini design concept. Dubbed the Madura (named after an Indonesian island famous for bull races), the concept was created - in collaboration with Lamborghini and Audi designers - for Lamborghini's Raw Materials Project.

According to Tanevsky, "The Lamborghini Madura is a proposal for the first hybrid Lamborghini scheduled for 2016. Doing a car more efficient and more nature-friendly, doesn't mean it shouldn't be exciting, good-looking and fast. (But) in my opinion this new propulsion system should be represented on the looks of the car."

While it's vaguely reminiscent of the Reventón and the Estoque concept, the whole design of the Lamborghini Madura is sleeker, more focused, and more aggressive. Up front, the Madura features slim headlights (to emphasize the cars' width), huge air intakes, and a curvaceous hood. Out back, the front-mounted hybrid powertrain allowed Tanevsky to create a maze of intricate lines which helps to give the car a unique appearance.
